As part of the BIM Days Germany 2022 in Berlin, the startup competition “On the trail of the BIM lions” was also announced again. The award recognizes new innovative business ideas in the digital construction industry. Over 100 start-ups from all over the German-speaking world were nominated and set off on the trail of the BIM lions. We didn’t want to miss out on this opportunity either and applied for the BIM Lion Award 2022 with our all-in-one construction software XBuild.
The 12 best start-ups were pre-selected by a jury of experts. These had to undergo an online pitching session including a public vote at the start of the BIM Days Germany on Friday, September 16, 2022.
XBuild was already able to impress at this online event and emerged, ex aequo with Specter Automation, as the winner of the public vote. The 4 startups with the most votes were invited to the grand finale on September 19, 2022, at the Allianz Forum at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, where they will once again convince the expert jury of their innovative solutions.
Our founder Tobias Rieser accepted the invitation and traveled to the German capital on Monday with the other 3 finalists. After constructive presentations on sustainable construction progress, another pitch round followed in the afternoon in front of the BIM Löwen jury, which determined the final winner. The winner of the competition was then announced at the BIM Gala in the evening. As the expert jury could not agree on the winner either, it was decided without further ado to award the BIM Lion Award to 2 finalists: Specter Automation and XBuild.

Our entire team, around the two founders Tobias Rieser and David Abfalterer, feels once again encouraged in their work to sustainably digitize the construction industry.
